Bakerdays Review

Don’t you just love it when a cheeky treat comes through your letterbox?
I love it!
And that’s just what happened to me this week.
What was I sent? I was sent a fab cake.
Yes, yes, I said a cake!
Bakerdays are a fantastic company that can send you, friend or family member a cake in the post. They aren’t the biggest of cakes, or they wouldn’t fit through the letterbox, but boy are they tasty. They can also personalise it however you want, and do a fab range of flavours.
We were sent the Carrot cake.
All my friends know I am not a huge vegetable lover and Carrot cake is included in this. However, I ate a quarter of the cake and loved it! It was so moist and packed full of flavour.

Bakerdays send the cake in a fantastic metal tin and also include some goodies alongside, candles, balloons and even a cheeky packet of love hearts! Could they be any better?!

20130521-230621.jpg

Wouldn’t you love to receive this in the post?!

Before I had even taken the cake out the tin, the monsters were all over it. I was told specifically to “share it” and Mini Man told me “I have to have 4 big bits because I’m 4″
Cheeky monkey.

My design was fantastic, I chose the wording to fit in with the blog, as I said before Bakerdays can personalise it however you want, photos, names, sayings, the lot.

I, reluctantly, shared the cake with the family and it went down a storm. All of them wanted seconds. Even Dougal the dog.
The only comment made was from the Mr. He said it tasted more like a ginger cake than a carrot cake. Although he did enjoy every mouthful.

20130522-215403.jpg

So thank you Bakerdays for our lovely cake. We will be back for more cake soon.

Save The Dates & Invitations

I’m starting to get a little excited.
Ok a big bit excited 🙂
It’s just over 13 months to go until our Big Day. It doesn’t seem that long ago since it was 2 years to go.

So, now is the time we should be looking at Save the Date cards and invitations. And I am having a hard job deciding!
Along came Paper Themes and helped me along a little.
They sent me a few samples from some of their ranges. And the more I think about it, could they have made my job in the search harder??
They were gorgeous.
A couple, not to my taste. But 1 stuck out immediately. I had fallen in love, don’t tell the Mr!

20130512-174856.jpg
I liked all but one of these Save the Dates, but that’s just my personal preference. The Mr thought it was funny though. Can you guess what one it is??

20130512-175024.jpg
As I said they are all lovely.
Also, some designs I hadn’t seen before.
The website has a lot, lot more, my eyes were like saucers looking at them. And there are prices to suit every budget. Perfect!
I found the site easy to use and work my way about.

Here is my favourite Save the Date and Invitation.

20130512-175313.jpg
I loved this as it fits in with myself and the Mr.
It took him 7 1/2 years to propose!! I know, I know. I tried for a while before that to get him on one knee, and all it took was a New Year’s Day trip to the pub!

20130512-175428.jpg
This invitation is so unique. I hadn’t seen one like this before, despite all my reading of wedding magazines!
It also fits in with our wedding as we are getting married at the National Mining museum of Scotland.

Go on, pop over to Paper Themes and have a cheeky little look.
You won’t regret it.

Disney Range from Munchkin

My little lady loves to get her overalls on and get dirty down the yard with her daddy. But she also loves her girly things – disney princess, Minnie Mouse etc.
And her cheeky wee face lit up when we received this in the post.

20130508-133241.jpg

The wonderful people at Munchkin have brought out a new Disney range. It looks fabulous. So fabulous that the Little Lady would not let her big brother near it! She insisted she had juice out of it there and then.
I had my orders and off I went to give it a wash out and put water in it.
The cup is leakproof and has a 100% leak proof guarantee, thank heavens, can you imagine the mess.
The only fault I found with it, was that I struggled to flip the straw up. It was quite stiff.

20130508-133710.jpg

Around came dinner time, again I had my orders that dinner was to be put on madams new plate.
Lolly loved having the different sections on the plate, especially having a separate bit for her tomato sauce, I was specifically told where to put it, she is a bossy boots!

20130508-133936.jpg

I love the fact the plate and bowl have a rubber bottom so as they don’t slip about the table. We have tried other ones that have promised the same but haven’t been as effective.
The set is bright and colourful too, which we all loved.
The range starts from £4.50, so not hugely expensive either. Another great factor.

I think the picture below says it all.

We were even more delighted when we were sent a gorgeous rose headband.
It came in a gorgeous package

20130506-143546.jpg

Jolly Logan Sheep Range by NICI

We were lucky enough to be spent a wonderful package from NICI UK to review.
In the package we received a Jolly Logan stuffed toy, money tin, notepad and shoulder bag.

As soon as I had opened the package to fighting had begun! My two monsters wanted it all and didn’t want to share. Junior (4) worked it out that he should have the first shot as he is the oldest. Lolly didn’t agree, once I have her the bag she had changed her mind.

20130401-082001.jpg

Junior loved the stuffed toy, I don’t blame him as he is so soft. And we love the idea behind him. He is a sheep with a wolf coat and hood. He goes everywhere with him.

20130401-082144.jpg

Lolly wouldn’t let me take her photo with the bag as she said I would steal it! The cheeky little monster.
The bag is as soft as the Jolly Logan stuffed toy. I couldn’t stop feeling it for a moment!

The notepad is a great wee thing and fits perfectly into the bag. It’s coming up for Juniors birthday and we will be using these for his thank you notes.

20130401-084357.jpg

20130401-084406.jpg

The money tin came with a little padlock and two keys. I told the monsters this was to keep their money safe and that I keep the keys.
We are going on holiday soon and we have all been putting some extra pennies in. Whatever is in there by the time we go will be their spending money.

NICI is available to buy at many local retailers and online at these retailers:

www.nici.co.uk
www.amazon.co.uk
www.delveswoodbears.co.uk
www.cuddlykingdom.com

A big thank you to NICI for sending these wonderful items.
The favourite item has to be the Jolly Logan stuffed toy, so so soft. Love it!
I would recommend these products to everyone.

XLS Medical Review

20130325-204232.jpg

I have taken on the weight loss challenge, to get my wedding body on.
I am doing this with a mixture of healthy eating, attending gym and not trying not to have too much wine.

I was asked if I would like to aid my weight loss with the UK’s No 1 weight loss tablet XLS Medical.

After reading into it, side effects etc (there weren’t any known when Myself and other bloggers were given them to review) I decided to go ahead and give them a bash.
I am a woman who needs to lose weight. I will take any extra help I can 😉

The tablets are simple to – Take 2 with a drink after each meal. 3 if its a high fat meal. The maximum you can take in one day is 6.

The one thing I liked about these is that they are naturally derived and don’t interfere with your body’s natural workings. Perfect!

I am going to do the review in 3 stages. This is due to being given 3 month supply of XLS Medical and thought the best way I can do it is in monthly stages.

This first month I have been a little bit lazy (and piggish, if that’s a word!) on the healthy eating front. There have been some days where all I have wanted is junk food. Crisps, dips and nuts, especially cashews mmmm, are my downfall. And there was one week I didn’t lose any weight, didn’t put on though. Just stayed the same. And I put that down to taking XLS medical. I really think, had I not been taking these I would have put on weight for sure.
My other weigh ins I have lost 2-3lb and that’s not cutting back just eating normally and a couple sessions at the gym.

In the last 30 days I have lost 9lbs. Go me 🙂 and that’s including the week I stayed the same.

I know what you are thinking? How does this work then? Here’s the answer:

XLS Medical Fat Binder reduces the absorption of dietary fat by interacting with the fat to form a viscous fat-fibre complex too large to pass through the wall of the small intestine.
This fat-fibre complex is eliminated naturally from the body in the stools, when you go to the toilet. You shouldn’t notice any difference to your usual bowel movements, although you need to drink enough water to prevent becoming constipated.

That’s the science part behind it.
If you want to lose those extra pounds What have you got to lose? (Excuse the pun!)

If you are any of the below, then you are not able to take these supplements:
Are pregnant or likely to become pregnant
Are breastfeeding
Have a BMI of less than 18.5
Eat liver or liver products once a week, with other products containing retinol (as XLS-Medical also contains vitamin A as retinol)
Are at risk of osteoporosis (post-menopausal women and older people)

If you have any underlying health problems, cholesterol, etc, please seek medical advice from your GP before taking these.

I will update you in another 30 days with more progress 🙂

Munchkin Bath Range Review

My little monsters were delighted when we received a box of Bathtime goodies to review for Munchkin

20130313-133824.jpg
Lolly was straight in the box. Declaring that the Splash Along Mermaid was hers!
She ripped open the packaging and carried the mermaid everywhere until it was Bathtime. Safe to say she was a definite hit.

20130313-134028.jpg
There were cackles of delight when she splashed along the water.
(Excuse the bath water! It’s not filthy honestly lol. It’s Juniors bath products we have to use for his dry skin, makes water go all murky)
The 2 monsters had lots of fun sending her to each other.

20130313-134210.jpg
We then moved onto the Munchkin Bath Letters and Numbers.
My mini man loved this. And from a mummy’s point of view it’s a fantastic learning aid. He loved finding the letters to spell his name and the number to show his age.
I also think it will help Lolly along wih her alphabet as Junior was showing her how to spell her name.

20130313-134527.jpg
We were also sent these bright, colourful bath pads.
I prefer these to one big bath mat. And the monsters helped stick these on before we ran the bath. The red one also has the indicator built in that goes white when the water is too hot. Fantastic!

Overall, we loved having these products to review and went down a treat in our house.
The only problem we had was that some of the letters in the alphabet pack didn’t stick as good as others on the tiles. But we were able to work around that.
They are fun, practical, educational and mummy approved 🙂

To have a look at more of their fantastic products, kids will love. Head over to Munchkin

Bio Oil Review

Recently we were asked if we would like to try out some Bio Oil.
I had heard of Bio Oil and its claims to help reduce scars, stretchmarks and the likes.

Regardless of how well or little known the company of this kind of product is, I am always a little bit dubious.  But I didn’t need to be.

We used the oil, and still are, on myself and my mini man.
Myself for the lovely stretch marks my generous monsters gave me. And the mini man has some scarring on his cheeks from a skin infection, that wouldn’t quite heal as he kept picking it. I did tell you they are monsters!

20130220-163654.jpg
Not too clear, only one I could find. But you can see difference with this compared to pics below

20130220-162931.jpg20130220-163022.jpg

</a

These are the mini mans results after using bio oil for 2 weeks.
His scarring has reduced as has the redness that was constantly there.
Impressed? I certainly am.
And if that’s after 2 weeks, how long until its cleared up? Not too much longer I hope.

As for myself, I won’t be grim and put pictures up of my lovely stretch marks. However, I have noticed a slight difference in them. Not as much as Juniors but they are reducing. And again with continuous use they will be banished forever! Well fingers crossed!

A little more about this Multi-Tasking oil, it is the No 1 selling scar and stretch mark product.

Since its launch Bio-Oil has become a household name, trusted by millions of people across the world for scars, stretch marks, ageing skin, dehydrated skin, and uneven skin tone. Clinical trials show just how effective Bio-Oil is at tackling a multitude of skin woes[i].

Heat Holders – The Review

Socks?? I hear you say.
A review on socks??
Why yes. But these aren’t just any socks. These are heat holders. The Ferrari of all socks.

20130122-103024.jpg

If you are braving the weather we are, up in Scotland, and I think we all are. These are the socks for you.

In the past I have bought thermal socks and in the midst of a cold, welly wearing, evening walking the dog, I’ve thought to myself, why did I even bother? As they didn’t warm my feet in the slightest.
But these bad boys, well what can I say? My feet were toasty warm, not a cold toe in sight.

20130122-103517.jpg

They come up mid calf so perfect welly height.
Mr N wasn’t beat pleased, as the monsters handed him the socks when they arrived and said for you daddy. Until I swiftly removed them from his vice grip hands. I did let him try one in for a whole 5 minutes and he was impressed. I am forever buying him thermal socks as he works outside a lot of the time. I am going to have to invest in a pair or two if these for him.

20130122-103809.jpg
Our weather in chilly Edinburgh

Overall I think these are fantastic and well worth the money, you can get them from Matalan for £6.
I noticed the thickness of the socks straight away and couldn’t believe how soft they were inside.

20130122-104620.jpg
The soft inside of the socks

Now for the technical part 😉

The socks work in a 3 stage process:

1. Extra heavy bulky yarn, that has excellent thermal qualities
2. Long pile cushioning, adds comfort and support, which is a major factor in increasing the toy rating.
3. Intense brushing process, inside of the socks have been intensively brushed and holds more warm air close to the skin. Keeping feet warmer for longer.

So it’s all win.
We got sent a pair of black Heat Holders, they are available in a range of colours, including pink.

Achica “Wish” List & Review

20130108-204107.jpg

If I am completely honest, I had not heard of Achica until recently, when I had been pointed in the websites direction.
I was slightly dubious when first entering the website, as you have to register before gaining access to the products. But boy am I glad I went ahead and had a look!

The site is stylish, modern and just simply fantastic. I found it easy to navigate my way around and find amazing bargains! The Mr maybe not so happy, as all he could hear every few minutes was “oh that’s gorgeous” and “take a look at this”.
I fell in love with a stunning jacquard print rug. When I mentioned the price (£395) to the Mr I thought he was going to choke on his biscuit. And he so kindly pointed out it was sold out 😦 the colour instantly came back to his face.

Achica have amazing offers of upto 70% off, items are hand picked and the promotions last 48 hours, meaning lots of new goodies are always being added to the site.
